Rewind 4 years to Superbooth 2018 as the production of the Dreadbox Erebus analog synth ended and the world was eager for its replacement. Superbooth was the perfect time for Dreadbox to introduce their latest DIY module the Lil Erebus. Being that this was a replacement for the beloved Erebus, these kits went fast and instantly became hard to find. 

We scoured the internet for months trying to locate a kit in the summer of 2020 and they were so few and far between. Luckily, we clicked on the right link one day and found one of the kits at Robotspeak in San Francisco, CA. After a few quick clicks to pay for the module, we were excited to get our hands on it about a week later.

What is the Lil Erebus?

The Lil Erebus consists of two oscillators, a 2-pole low-pass filter, an envelope generator (ADS), an LFO and the excellent voltage controlled echo effect. It also features 16 patch points that allows you to use it with your modular gear.

At 42 hp, this paraphonic synthesizer was quick to become a heavy hitter in our rack due to its unique capabilities and heavy oscillators.

Analog Lab.Swiss Dual Sub101A - DIY Build

Here at fiN Studios, we are continuously looking for new and exciting modules, synths or pedals to build. Not only do we utilize them in our own racks, we enjoy helping promote other artists or instrument designers. 

One of our most recent finds is the Analog-Lab.Swiss Sub 101A Duo which is a dual sub-oscillator eurorack module. There is even have a single version of the 101A if you only wanted one. We opted for the Dual Sub101A and have to admit, we are glad we did. 

What is the Sub101A?

The Sub101A is a 6HP Eurorack Module who’s circuit adds a square wave sub-oscillator to your rack. In layman’s terms, it adds more bass or low end to the output of anything going into it. This is accomplished by tracking an oscillator signal from a VCO and then generating a square wave that is -1 or -2 octaves below that. Needless to say, it goes low!!

You can also mix between the 2 sub-octaves which can give the output a sound similar to the famous Roland SH-101 pulse.

Division 6 Dual Mini Sequencer V2 Update

Dual Mini Sequencer V2 Kit

The Division 6 Dual Mini Sequencer has been an integral part of many of our compositions. This module gives you two handy sequencers in one small footprint.

Comprised of two independent sequencers (one on top and one on bottom), the Division 6 Dual Mini sequencer can not only play the notes, but it can transpose them as well.

This module can be utilized as a clock module and it can be ran in parallel for multiple CVs and/or triggers.

Not only can this module do all of these things, it can also be daisy chained to another Mini Sequencer to add even more steps in your sequence. 

Being that the Dual Mini Sequencer has been out for awhile, we were surprised when it was updated out of the blue. What else could make this module better we thought? Well, here is just a list of some of the new updates:

  • Multiple sequence memories 
  • Songs – you can string together sequences (this is rad)
  • 5 song memories (you can string sequences together)
  • Live transpose 
  • SLUR – the ability to change the CV OUT to a new note but still doesn’t fire the gate
  • 16 different gate timings (including 3 ratchet)
  • ACC can be programmed with 3 different modes to choose from (on, on with drop and gate follow)
  • Ability to copy a song or sequence
  • More speed choices with internal clock
  • RESET button integration with various modes
  • 1x and Live Edit Modes
  • Updates to clock out and Change on Clock mode
